Pray for the ability to share our testimony. Do we give enough info to bring glory to God and all He has done in our life or too much? From the study of Daniel by Beth Moore, Daniel 4:2 "We can get too graphic and take the attention away from God. Over-sharing can also have a strong tendency to glorify man rather than God. You see, the essence of giving glory to draw attention. If our testimonies are so graphic that they steal the attention from the point (God's greatness), they cheat Him of glory, however

unintentionally. Nebuchadnezzar told us just enough to convey the seriousness of his estate, strike the fear of God in us, and magnify the throne of heaven." Pray for God to give us just the right words when sharing our testimony with others. Pray for the right words that will give God all the glory! ~Frances

DIY Flavored Lip Gloss

Having 3 girls in our house, we use A LOT of lip gloss. I thought it would be fun for us to make our own flavored lip gloss. This is very simple and very easy recipe!

Items needed:

13 oz petroleum jelly (use about 3oz per flavor so you can get 4 different flavors with one container of petroleum jelly)

4 flavors of kool-aid drink packages

lip gloss containers ( I found mine at hobby lobby in the paint section.)

Directions:

1. Put about 3oz of petroleum jelly in a microwave safe bowl. (That is about a 1/4 of the jar.)

2. Heat it for 30 second to 1 minute increments.  Don't forget to stir between each heating time to liquify the petroleum jelly, it took about 8 minutes.  It could be more or less time depending on your microwave and it's settings.

***It will be HOT so BE CAREFUL!***

3.  Once petroleum jelly is liquid, stir in 1 Kool-Aid package until completely dissolved.  (You can reheat if it starts to harden.)

4. Pour into lip gloss containers and let it harden completely for an hour or two.

5.  Repeat with other flavors.

6. Enjoy and share!

The word God gave me today is Loyalty. It came up in the Daniel study and again in my very first 5th grade Sunday School lesson. 5th graders will learn about being a loyal friend like Jonathan was to David. In the Daniel study it was about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego's loyalty to God. The definition of loyalty is not only firm, steadfast, faithful, reliable, but also to be ready and be prepared. "Loyalty means that when a sudden temptation poses a character question, if we have true conviction in that area, we do not have to consider how we'll answer it. Loyalty means the question has already been answered. We simply act upon it." How can we have true conviction and loyalty to God if we don't know Him. If we have not prepared for those hard questions of our faith. Preparation is through prayer and study in order for us to have the kind of loyalty  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had to God that day when they were questioned. Even when being faced with the furnace, they stood firm in their faith. Is your loyalty to God firm, steadfast, faithful, reliable? Are you ready and prepared to be tested on your loyalty to Christ? Have you already answered the question in your own heart and mind about whether anything could make you turn away from Him? Pray and Prepare this week. ~ Frances

Back to School Bookmark

If your kids are like mine, those thin card stock bookmarks do not last very long.  I decided with school starting up to make something that is a little more kid friendly.  These fabric bookmarks turned out perfect! They would even make great gifts for teachers, your kids friends, or even your friends.

Gather your supplies:
fabric scraps
thin interfacing
ribbon


Start by choosing your fabrics.

Then cut 2 - 2"x7" pieces of fabric along with  2 - 1 1/2"x 6 1/2" pieces of thin interfacing.

Iron the interfacing piece in the middle of each fabric piece to the wrong side of your fabric.  You could keep it simple and just stitch all around fabric pieces, wrong sides together, then trim with pinking shears, OR add some ribbon flair.

If adding ribbon to the bookmarks, go ahead and cut across top of bookmark with pinking shears before sewing fabric pieces together.

Cut ribbon pieces 3 1/4" long.  This is also a good time to heat seal the ends of your ribbon so they don't fray on you later.  BE CAREFUL not to burn yourself or your ribbon!

Pin ribbon in between your two fabric pieces about 1/4" or little more down from top of bookmark.

I then triple stitched across the top to reinforce the ribbon then continued around the other sides with a single stitch.

Cut outside edges of the bookmark with pinking shears then grab a book!

Pretty cute huh! No more bent bookmarks!
